Make extra when you do cook

Every time you cook in the run-up to your house move simply double the recipe and pop some into the freezer. This means that during the weeks of packing you do not need to prepare food and can simply microwave a nutritious meal you love. This also means that you can have a meal on the day you move house. Simply remove the last of your meals from the freezer on moving day and leave them to defrost during the day. Once you have moved everything in you can simply unpack the microwave and some plates and you have a filling meal there for you.

Buy easy to prepare foods

Do not beat yourself up if you do not have time to prepare full meals each evening and consider what you can make that is easy to prepare. Stock up on things like microwave meals, Pot Noodles, pots of pasta and other similar meals that simply need a kettle. This can make all the difference to keeping you healthy when you are moving as they are likely to still be healthier than a takeaway, not to mention cheaper!

Use your gadgets!

If you are anything like me you have a lot of kitchen gadgets you rarely use? Get out that pressure cooker, air fryer or George Foreman and use those to make easier meals with minimal preparation and washing up. It might be that if you have the right combination of gadgets you can even pack some of your saucepans etc as you just won’t need them!

Your slow cooker could be a lifesaver here. It is really easy to put the ingredients in first thing in the morning then you have a meal ready at teatime. Instead of spending time cooking you can easily pack whatever is needed and move forward with that packing so you do not need to leave it until the last minute!
